The Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center is co-hosting the 2024 DGKK Seminar on “Growth Kinetics and Layer Transfer of Ultrathin Layers and 2D Materials”, together with CST, DGKK, and AIXTRON SE.
The seminar will take place on September 16-17, 2024 in Aachen. A special focus will be placed on 2D layer growth by various methods as well as transfer processes for ultra-thin semiconductor, dielectric and metal films. The aim is to bring together researchers from different communities to discuss emerging topics in these fields. Work in progress is welcome.
Topics (not exclusively) are:
- Synthesis of 2D materials, nucleation and growth processes, defects, instabilities
- Selective-area epitaxy
- Influence of adlayers on epitaxial (and non-epitaxial) crystal growth
- Formation of ultrathin layers and nanostructures
- In-situ monitoring of growth and other processes
- Layer transfer and defects in layer structures
- Device results with strong correlation to layer deposition or layer properties
- Particular demands of thin film systems for Qubits and memristive structures
- Atomistic simulations like density functional theory, molecular dynamics, kinetic Monte-Carlo

16.09.24 – 17.09.24 at ICT Cubes (2320), Room 0002, Kopernikusstraße 16, 52074 Aachen
The seminar will start on Monday about noon and will end on Tuesday about noon. The common dinner on Monday evening will be a good opportunity for networking and discussing future perspectives.
Participation is free and open to everybody (DGKK members and non-members).
