Ultrafast machine vision with 2D semiconductor photodiode arrays – a seminar by Prof. Thomas Mueller

On Tuesday, October 6, the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials will host a seminar by Prof. Thomas Mueller, from the Technical University of Vienna, who will present his latest results on how to exploit 2D-semiconductor photodiode-arrays for ultrafast machine vision.

Mueller is the head of the Nanoscale Electronics & Optoelectronics Group at Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). His research focuses on electronic and photonic devices based on two-dimensional materials. Among the recent achievements of his group there are the demonstration of the first microprocessor based on a two-dimensional semiconductor and of the first operational amplifier based on molybdenum disulfide (MoS2).

In his talks he will discuss how an image sensor formed by a reconfigurable 2D-semiconductor photodiode-array can simultaneously sense and process optical images without latency – a result that has been published in the March issue of Nature (Ultrafast machine vision with 2D material neural network image sensors, Nature 579, 62 (2020)).
