Two new visiting-researchers at the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center

This summer, the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center will welcome two new international visiting-researchers.

The first one is Prof. Barış Şimşek, associate professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Çankırı Karatekin University (Turkey). Prof. Şimşek will spend a one-year sabbatical at RWTH Aachen University hosted by Prof. Max Lemme at the Chair for Electronic Devices (ELD), where he will be working on graphene-ink coating on polymer-based substrates for applications in flexible electronics. Prof. Şimşek is supported by a grant of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK),

The second guest is Ms. Zineb Benzait, who will spend six months at ELD supported by a scholarship of the Erasmus+ programme and of AMO GmbH. Ms. Benzait is a PhD candidate in the Department for Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), where she has gained experience on the synthesis and characterization of graphene-based nanocomposite. She will use her staying in Aachen to test the potential of these materials for gas-sensing applications and to extend her experimental skills.

“I am very happy to welcome our new guests”, says Prof. Max Lemme, spokesperson of the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center. “At RWTH and at the Center, we strongly believe that internalization and diversity are essential ingredients of a successful research environment. Ms. Benzait and Prof. Şimşek will bring new experiences and expertizes to the Center and I’m sure that their staying will be very profitable for all parts.”
