We are pleased to announce the DGKK Seminar on Growth Kinetics and Layer Transfer of Ultra-Thin Layers and 2D Materials, taking place November 23–24, 2026, at RWTH Aachen University.
The seminar will bring together researchers from academia and industry to discuss the latest developments in crystal growth, epitaxy, ultra-thin films, and 2D materials. A special focus will be placed on 2D layer growth, layer transfer processes, and their applications in next-generation electronic and quantum devices
Topics include:
- Synthesis of 2D and 3D materials, nucleation, growth processes, defects, and instabilities
- Selective-area epitaxy
- Influence of adlayers on crystal growth
- Formation of ultra-thin layers and nanostructures
- In-situ monitoring of substrate conditions and growth
- Layer transfer and defects in layer structures
- Device performance related to layer deposition and properties
- Thin-film systems for qubits, quantum emitters, detectors, and memristive structures
- Atomistic simulations (DFT, molecular dynamics, kinetic Monte Carlo)
Venue: Walter-Schottky-Haus, RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany
Dates: November 23–24, 2026 (lunch-to-lunch format)
A networking dinner will be held on Monday evening.
Participation is free of charge and open to both DGKK members and non-members. Registration is required via email: dgkk_kinetik@cst.rwth-aachen.de
We look forward to welcoming researchers from diverse communities for stimulating discussions and new collaborations. Presentation of work in progress is highly encouraged! To contribute to the seminar, please include in your registration mail a brief note with author(s), title and a very short topic description of your contribution. No abstract required.
